The Demeter Collection

The Demeter Collection is inspired by Spring: butterfly wings, budding leaves and growing branches, longer days and the transformation to warmer weather.

When Persephone was kidnapped and brought to the underworld, her mother Demeter searched the Earth but could not find her daughter. As Demeter was the goddess of growing things, her anguish created Winter. When Zeus commanded that Persephone be returned, Demeter was overjoyed and the Earth mirrored her mood. Because Persephone ate while a captive, she must annually return beneath the ground. Each year when Persephone comes home to Demeter, Spring returns to the Earth.

Pysanky Eggs 2013

We watched The Sound of Music and then The Hobbit while we made them.  As usual I had no problem spending the entire day decorating eggs.

I made 12 and Ben made 4.  Next year we'll need to get a bigger basket.
