Constellation Scarf

After tons of time and tons of work the Constellation Scarf is now in the shop.  I am so happy with how if turned out.  I love the extra large size that is great for wrapping around my neck and especially appreciate it now that the temperatures have dropped here in NYC.  I have worn this scarf everyday since it was finished and plan on wearing it all fall and winter. 

The Constellation Scarf was inspired by classic depictions of the night sky and its constellations. The scarf illustrates the major constellations of the the Fall sky in the northern hemisphere in white against a bright blue background and bordered by a deep grey.
This scarf is a large square and measures 44 inches by 44 inches. This scarf was illustrated and designed by me in my Brooklyn studio and digitally printed onto silk in California.

Constellation Scarf

My newest scarf design is in the works.  This one is going to be an extra-large 44 X 44 inch silk square.  I cannot wait to get these printed so I can wear one.  

I drew all the constellations and stars based on vintage star charts.  It was a lot of work, many many hours of drawing, coloring and perfecting, but I think it was worth it because I am thrilled with how it came out.  

25 Cats name Norrell and One Pigeon

I had scarves on the brain when I saw the Andy Warhol piece 25 cats Name Sam. The piece consists of 16 cats named Sam (it is unclear whether these where all the same cat or different cats all named Sam) and one cat named Hester. Any Warhol's mother was a cat lover and had lots of cats. I loved this idea as a concept for a scarf. In my own style, I drew my cat, named Mr. Norrell in 16 different positions and I drew one Pigeon, my friend Genevieve's cat. I scanned in all the drawings and arranged them using Photoshop. I played around with the background colors for a while before deciding on a grey/blue scheme. I took the orange pop of color from the coloring on Pigeon's fur around the edge of the scarf to keep the eye moving around. The design was then digitally printed on silk charmuse. 

I love this scarf! It makes me happy every time I put it on. It helps me through gloomy mornings on the way to work because I can't help but smile looking down at these 17 cats around my neck. I hope you will love to wear it and these cats will make you smile too.

This scarf is a large square of silk charmuse and measures 36 inches by 36 inches with a machine rolled baby hem.. The charmuse fabric drapes very nicely. This scarf is perfect for cool fall days and is versatile enough to be worn every day, or to a special event.

The scarf will come wrapped up in tissue paper ready to be given as a gift or opened as a special treat for yourself.

Orion Nebula Galaxy Scarf

The Orion Nebula Galaxy Scarf is now in the shop.

This silk charmuse scarf features a photograph of the Orion Nebula. This scarf is a large square and measures 36 inches by 36 inches. The charmuse fabric drapes very nicely. This scarf is perfect for cool fall days and is versatile enough to be worn every day, or to a special event like a wedding.

I am absolutely in love with this scarf. I wore it all throughout my vacation through Spain and it was a great accessory to keep the sun off in the day and to huddle underneath during the cool nights.

Cats on a Scarf

I made this scarf design of many of my cat named Mr. Norrell and one of my friend Genevieve's cat named Pigeon.  The concept came from Andy Warhol's 25 cats name Sam.  The book actually had 16 Sam cats and one named Hester.  So this scarf is 16 Norrell cats and one named Pigeon. 

I am getting this scarf made in silk and I am really excited to see how it will turn out.

My Mini Scarf

I made myself a mini scarf with an abstract pattern of a zoomed flower.

It is perfect for spring tied on my bag or around my neck.

Two Magnolias Silk Chiffon Scarf

I designed my first textile for a silk chiffon scarf.  I was inspired by a trip to the Brooklyn Botanical Garden and all the blooming magnolia trees.  I worked really hard on this design and I am really happy with how it came out.  The scarf is available in the shop.
